I've just started this blog.   I am nervous about doing it.  Is it narcissistic? Will anybody read it other than my husband and kids, of course?    If it will help engage people in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society  ( LLS)Team in Training,  it is worth it.  I had a very moving experience today. ( and I had been struggling with what I was going to post!)   In January 2008 Joe and I met a guy at a restaurant bar and struck up a conversation.  It turns out his high school son was suffering from leukemia and they were considering a bone marrow transplant.  I told him our connection to the LLS.  I signed up to follow the kid's on line journal about his illness.   I got postings for months but now realize that I hadn't seen a posting in the last year.  Well...I got a posting today about his death in early July .  He was 17 years old and an athlete in the Dayton, OH area.    Wow.  I do not believe in coincidences in life.   In some way I cannot explain,  this was a message to me to stick to this marathon for Team in Training.   That random meeting at a bar 18 months ago happened to give this current effort some additional meaning.
God Bless Blake LaForce and his family

  3. I am really proud of my wife. She has been involved in fundraising for this cause for many years and already has a marathon under her belt. Milly lost her dad to leukemia and in reading her blog posting above, these connections to leukemia based diseases keeps her involved. I don't know where she gets the time and energy, but I support her 110%. I volunteered to be her coach, all I need to do is find my whistle and clipboard. I love you dear!
