I am on my multi-city tour, ha ha.   Last week I trained in Philly.  Over the weekend we were in Washington, DC;  this morning I trained in Savannah;   tomorrow I will train in El Paso.   Next Saturday my mileage steps up to 12 miles.   The fun times are SO over.  Hello BenGay.       Our weekend in DC continued a 25 year love/hate relationship I have with that city.    The monuments are beautiful but I find the city itself rather sterile and uninviting.   The main tourist areas do seem safe, however, with Capitol Police everywhere.    I can recommend Johnny's Half Shell between Union Station & the Capitol.   Very good Chesapeake Bay seafood.

Fact:  >95% of patients suffering from Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) survive more than 5 years, with a good quality of life, thanks to Gleevec (R).    That drug was developed by a researcher who was funded by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).   The LLS was also instrumental in the development of Velcade (R), which is used to treat multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma.

Something to be thankful for:  the last blooms on our Crepe Myrtle trees in our yard in Savannah.  Even here in the South,  the signs that summer is over and fall is coming are here.
Yipee.   That means a bit cooler weather.

  1. I did not know about these drugs. I'm learning something each week. Even in TX, my Crepe Myrtle trees are "shedding". At the moment, it's a nice 77 deg.

  2. Kudos to my wife. She's a training machine, and she does it in style.

    Great post dear.
